Thank you so much for this, Haley! I needed to read this. I am 3 weeks away from my wedding and feeling that unrealistic pressure. This was so comforting to read and know that it will be a beautiful celebration of our love and our soul connection - he loves me for me ♥️
A bit late to the party (lol) but I have to say this post is why I finally hit subscribe! I’ve shared it with so many people - it’s beautifully written, incredibly poignant, relatable and absolutely perfect. Many congrats!
Haley- Thanks for sharing this poem. I particularly love this part: "because this is a woman, who waited decades, to call herself home." I hope you're finding yourself well and 'at home' this week, Haley? :)
Beautifully put Haley! It is pretty awful that women especially are made to feel like we have to fit into a particular not us-sized mold on our wedding day. I love that you rebelled against that convention (where the heck did that even come from in the first place?!). Cheers to enjoying your special day in as you a way as possible!
I love this so much ♥️ this is how I wish I felt (or what I would have told myself from 9 years old all the way through my mid 30s). I appreciate you and yes—-cheese is fucking delicious—let us rejoice 🧀! Congrats to you and Mr.Pancakes 🥞!
Wow thank you for sharing this! I got married last year and also did not try to lose weight for my wedding and this really got me in my heart. I think not trying to change myself for my wedding also made me feel more like I was really bringing my real true self to the day instead of some polished version, which felt important. I hope your wedding is just so wonderful!
Thank you for the beautiful comparisons of your body to nature. I especially love the moon analogy. Congratulations on loving yourself and getting married to a man who loves and appreciates you! Have a joyous time.
Love this so much! I just got married in April and also didn’t try to lose weight for my wedding. But yet any mention of any kind of exercise around a few of my colleagues and they would respond “oh yeah, getting in shape for your big day” ….????? No, I already like my shape. I bought a wedding dress which fits me as I am. Forever baffled by people who feel they need to comment on others bodies.
Also congrats!! Enjoy your day, I hope it’s everything you are hoping for.
Right?! The culture around a "wedding body" is so bizarre (and unnecessary). I have definitely had to fight the urge to succumb to wanting to shift into someone else entirely to feel like I'm "wedding ready."
I so appreciate your comment and thank you for your well wishes!!!

I'm so glad this poem found you (and I hope you have the most amazing day celebrating your love with your community). All my love!!!
