My friend Samantha Dion Baker keeps some of the most beautiful travel sketchbooks you can imagine (she even has a book coming out this summer on the subject). So as I prepared to go to Thailand and Singapore last month, I decided to try my hand at keeping my own illustrated log of the trip.

I kept my intentions light: Just draw something—anything!—each day. I was surprised to discover how much I look forward to preserving my adventure on the page.
Below are the pages from my time in Chang Mai, Thailand. I went for an Amelia’s Notebook vibe, hoping to capture the little delights (and snags!) of each day. Oh, and if the images are hard to read/see, I recommend reading directly on Substack—all the art is set the widest width there!

Links of note:
I have an illustrated memoir about anxiety! Mari Andrew compared it to “a big scoop of peanut butter ice cream: the kind of satisfaction you never knew you needed.” See if she’s right!
Skillshare is offering a free month to the first 500 people to use my code HALEY1224. I just took Mimi Chao’s class on drawing foundations as a refresher, and it was truly lovely.
I was recently on a podcast! Host of Who You Callin’ Crazy?! Juliet Kuehnle and I chatted all things anxiety, therapy, and social media. Listen here.
I am a ~special guest~ at Samantha Dion Baker’s Substack meetup at the end of this month. Join us as we hang out and draw and have a grand ole time.
Pages from Koh Phangan and Singapore coming soooooon. Thanks for reading!
AND! Have the best time xx
This is so inspiring!!! Reading this on the way back from my long trip and definitely want to do this next time. What a great way to capture it ❤️
