Hi!
January is here, and with it my seasonal depression has settled in like a houseguest overstaying their welcome (as in, they weren’t invited at all). In an attempt to take care of myself going into a few more months of this headspace, I decided to start the year off with another round of “One Nice Thing A Day” (see past installments here, here, and here). The goal of this series is to find something good in each day—and no, this is not an attempt to hide my feelings with a veil of toxic positivity, but rather an appreciation for the bright spots in the dark.
Okay! Without further ado, welcome toooooo:
And Now For Some Recommendations:
A song worthy of being the soundtrack to my entire life: Violin Tsunami by Kishi Bashi. It makes me feel big and small at the same time if that makes sense?
A book to preorder: Please Grow: Lessons On Thriving for Plants (and People) by Alex Testere. Alex’s newsletter is one of my favorite comfort reads, so I am counting down the days till I can hold his work in my hands. Plus, preorders help a book’s success (and you’ll feel like you’re getting a present months down the line).
The best way to enjoy soup: Eat it from a mug—I mean, it’s a bowl with a handle. For some reason this feels revolutionary to me.
The coziest bed experience: Flannel sheets (I recommend these from L.L. Bean, but any 100% cotton sheets will do the trick). They make me feel like this:
May your day be as cozy as Homer Simpson’s bed!
I have a soup mug that I have used for 5+ years. Perfectly fits my favorite can of soup! Nothing better.
Oh my goodness, I love kishi bashi and your description of big and small at the same time is perfect! Love the newsletter ❤️
