#23: Into the Dark
BYOL (Bring your own lights)
It’s November! That happened fast. Here’s how I’m feeling as winter approaches.
Best of luck for those in places creeping towards darkness. We’re in it together.
And Now For Some Recommendations:
A memoir to read: Tracy Clark-Flory’s memoir Want Me tells the story of the author’s career as a sex writer while weaving in stories of growing up, heartbreak, and her own conflicting desires. Equal parts dark, funny, poignant, and intimate, it’s one of the best coming-of-age stories I’ve read in a while.
A show to watch on an airplane: Did I somehow binge ten episodes of the latest season of The Mole on Netflix? Absolutely — here’s the trailer if you’re unfamiliar with the conceit of this seasoned reality series. It’s the perfect show for getting through a cross-country flight — there’s tension, drama, hot people, and secrecy!
An iPhone game to pass the time (and aesthetically wow you): The game is called “I Love Hue” (lol), and I’m mildly obsessed. The goal is to place a mixed-up array of colors into a gradient. Very soothing (until the ads pop up between rounds, but such is life).
The only part of going to the SeaTac airport I look forward to: Getting breakfast at Floret in Concourse A (I also recommend its parent restaurant in Seattle, Café Flora). If you’re ever traveling through this airport, make a beeline for this spot and order the fancy egg sandwich and a large coffee.
Happy November, everyone!
